Veteran center David Legwand finds new home with Senators

Ferdinand Grospe Patinio - 4E Sports Ferdinand Patinio

Ottawa, BC, Canada (4E Sports) - The 15-year veteran center, David Legwand, signed a $6M deal with the Ottawa Senators after Jason Spezza got traded to the Dallas Stars. This will be Legwand's third team after stints with the Nashville Predators and the Detroit Red Wings.

Legwand was drafted 2nd overall by the Predators in 1998 and played there for 15 years before getting traded to the Red Wings in exchange for Patrick Eaves, Calle Järnkrok and a conditional 2014 draft pick.

The American center departed with the Predators as the team's all-time leader in the most games played, goals, assists, and points.

Legwand scored a total of 14 goals and 51 points in 83 games for the Predators and Red Wings last season.

Senators' fans hopes he'll fill in the gap and help fellow centers Kyle Turris and Mika Zibanejad after the departure of Spezza.

General manager Bryan Murray belives that Legwand's experience and leadership will help the Sens.

"He's an experienced guy who can fit in either at the top or bottom of the lineup. He has been a captain and a leader, so we know we're getting a good person," Murray stated.
